From a working perfomer's view, what are your opinions on which "clipboards" are most practical for use in front of audience?

There are other threads on this topic, but briefly...I use Kopy Kat for drawing duplications and large writing.

Richard,
Long time back I had a Lee Earle Clone Pad. Is this a re-hash of that item or something different? Bri London, ALthough I have not owned one of these, I have heard good reports about the Brown Hornet. Bri In fact, I have just done a search and found a thread about this board with the following URL: http://www.jonsaintgermain.com/Hornet.htm It is better than I thought it seems! |

I have both the Brown Hornet and the Black Mantis from the jonsaintgermain website. These are both excellent boards with different uses.
The Brown Hornet can be used "live" in frontm of an audience, whereas the Black Mantis board is undetectable. You get two of the Black Mantis boards for great preshow work. They will blow you away. There is NOTHING to find! As with all boards some preparation is always beneficial and clear instructions are always required to ensure the best result. These are easily achieved. Which do I use the most. The Brown Hornet. Just one thing to note. The Brown Hornet is based on a "standard" clip board that is common in the US. I have never seen one in the UK, but I have never had a challenge about the board from the audience because it's so beautifully made. |

technojeff,
As I mentioned above I do not have the Hornet but having looked at the pics I am sure that Staples stock a clipboard identical to it if you need a duplicate "straight" clipboard. Worth popping in if you are passing. Bri |

I would find another method of pre-show--too much has been exposed over the years on clip-boarding, especially if you're doing corporate engagements.
More people than you might think have heard about clib-boards as impression devices. I use peek devices to get the info. Brandon |

Brandon,
Which devices do you use at the moment? Just out of curiosity.... I tend to use ordinary items as I am not keen on wallets, etc. I obviously can't post that here but I have a great idea which I am sure you already are using but if not it's worth a pm. Bri |

I used to work with Lee Earle's Clipboard as well as Guy Bavli Perfect Clipboard.
However, I stoped from using them, why? Because now I really dislike the idea of handing a Fancy Clipboard with a single sheet of paper, this, IMHO, is just unnatural. Of course, what works for others not necessarily works for me of course. Those are wonderful gimmicks (they're really great) but I decided to rely on less advanced mechanisms, which play very well for me and my audience. |

I went into Denny and Lee's in Las Vegas, saw the "Brown Hornet" and quickly forked over some of my casino winnings to own it. It is an outstanding board for both pre-work and also for on the spot divination and duplications. I love it.

At a recent trade show in New York I was shown the "Brown Hornet" clip board by a friend who performed at a booth. It is very, very innocent looking and a wonderful product. I am working on a new show right now and will definitely get one. Highest recommendation!
