How often do some of you more experienced coin magicians go back and practice some of the basics?
From time to time, I will go back and do some refinement/refreshment on things like the classic palm or coin rolls. Sometimes, I woodshed with the basics before working on a particular routine. Do you guys think this is good/bad? Do you do anything similar?

I wouldn't "label" myself an experienced coin magican, but it's just the same for me. Yesterday, for example, I re-discovered a classic (chink-a-chink) and decided to check and work on my classic palm if needed. I considered it, however, sufficiently satisfying.

Getting the basics back in shape before using them in routine makes sense to me.
I go back and polish any moves going into a new routine.

I find Relearning/ polishing stuff essential and for me re-looking at moves sometimes brings new inspiration for other routines.

I always have coins with me. Often I will just grab a coin and just mindlessly put it into different concealments and do various false transfers, etc.
This stuff is like learning to walk, once you learn it, its not too hard to lose it. Routines however will go south fast unless you keep the sequences practiced up. |

I've never stopped practicing the basics. I'm always analyzing, trying different timings, body language, finger positions, trying to strengthen the strong aspects of a technique and eliminate or minimize the weak parts. There's always room for improvement.
Best, Geoff

You guys give hope to a new coin guy such as myself. I sounds like the art of practicing is never lost. I keep a 1/2 in my pocket all the time and try to practice/learn new handledings, vanishes, palms, transfers, etc as my day goes by.
