Hi all,
I am currently in the process of building a small, lightweight, and portable table for busking. The workable surface is 14" x 21.5" which is a little smaller than I had hoped, but I sorta tested it out with a few tricks and it seems to be plenty of room. My main concern is with the wood rails: The top surface is exactly 1" wide, which not only reducing the size of workable area to 14" x 21.5" but also seems slightly big compared to the rest of the table. I haven't stained or assembled the rails yet, because I wanted to get some other opinions. Also, do you recommend putting a rail on the performer's side? I've seen tables like this, such as frank's, but then you can ditch anything if needed. So what do you think? Rails too big? Also, where can you get a pair of unfinished wooden legs? The ones in the picture (a TV tray) are wobbly and not tall enough. thanks in advance for you input! -brandon p.s. sorry about the poorly cropped photo, the uploads limits are tricky. Most home stores carry the legs, like Lowes and Home Depot. Looks nice, depends on where you work, but you want it heavy enough to not blow over in the wind.

Really? Lowes and Home Depot? I couldn't find any at Lowes, I must have not looked very well.
I'll definitely check that out tomorrow! |

Not that they are in the same place in every location, but I have found them in the area where they have the cut pieces of plywood, sometimes with the molding, posts, etc.

Hey Brandon
I was going to build a table until I found this http://www.percussionsource.com/ProductD......d=252201 This thing is solid and its compact. I'm going to make a table top for it. But its just fine the way it is just add a close-up pad and your set. Shop around I got one for $100 shipped. Jeremy |
