I spent the past 6 weeks working at Ripley's BION in Myrtle Beach, and posted two pieces of raw video of what served as a bally and a jam at my show:
Part I (you can start is at the 1:00 mark) Part II I would really appreciate any feedback from Todd and the rest of you who are experienced front talkers on what I did right and what I should have done differently; I turned a reasonable number of people, but I always feel like I could have gotten more. Thanks!

Not that I'm in the class of pro's from whom you have solicited feedback, but:
"I'm gonna say this a little bit more quietly, because this is only for you folks who came to see the show, it's not for the people walking by, it's not for the people over there..." I love that line, it seems a much more effective attention-riveter than leaving the "lower ticket price offer" plain and un-'spun'. |

Todd? Doug? Brett? Curator? I thought you guys were Talkers--*now's* when you have nothing to say?

I like the "Bowling Shoes"....I never worked a "Ripley's"...However, if you ever work in front of a tent for a Blue-collar crowd...I may be able to help....Best JZ

Ooooh, the collars a pretty blue down here.
I had thought the basic elements and techniques of a bally would be the same across venues. What would the differences be?

The BIG difference is....at a Ripley's Folks are Happy as they pay their addmission...In the Field (literally) as Folks pay to go in they say "O.K. @ss-hole...NOW entertain me!!...Also at Ripley's I assume one gets a salary, on the BCS ONE has to turn em or no pay....Really the only "Judge" of a successful Bally is the "Turn"...Sometimes you win...sometimes you Lose...and as in Baseball...sometimes it rains....Todd can help you the most...as I stuggle with my own Bally.....Best JZ
