My name is Lucas and I am looking to buy four or five white doves in Ohio. I live in the northern region in Sandusky Ohio. I am not a big fan of shipping because of what it does to the birds and the high prices. If anyone has doves within a reasonable drive from sandusky ohio or knows someone that has doves, please post back!
p.s. I contacted Dakota rose, but he hasnt said anything back yet. |

I live in Northwest Ohio in the area of Fort Wayne Indiana. If that is a reasonable drive for you send me a pm. I have a guy that sells doves for between $5 -10 a piece.

Illusionist, if it doesn't work out for you with Rob, there is nothing wrong with shipping doves. I used to do it all the time when I was breeding. The post office guarantees overnight delivery and the cost is usually only around $25 per box. I wouldn't recommend shipping them in very hot weather because they are closed in a box.

Well I was all for shipping until I found two breeders and they both said that the box was $10 and the shipping was $30....also, they are selling the doves for $20 a piece..its just too much for me

It all depends on your desire to get into doves.

That really isn't too expensive. If you buy several doves at one time, you are only paying for the box and shipping once. Overnight postal service is $25. I usually use a box I get from the post office and that could be $10 depending on the size of the box. The cost of the dove itself is going to vary anywhere from $10 to $30.

Animals are not cheap to feed and take proper care of to keep them healthy. Then you really should take them to the vet. to be checked out. That could be $100 or more. Then you have to make or purchase the dove devices, and figure out your attire that you are going to wear during your practice and performances. I guess you did not completely think this through before you decided to dive into dove productions. |

Bill is correct. There is a lot of things to think about when considering owning doves and including them in a magic act. I have been thinking about it and wanting to add doves to my magic act for years and years, and only recently made the decision to go for it. I have bought a bunch of DVDs, pockets, holders, etc. I am in the process of clearing out and restoring a shed and building a coop. Maybe someday I will be ready to actually buy some doves!
I may have to get some shipped to me also, but I am hoping I can find some within driving distance. They are not easy to find in many areas, that's for sure. Regan
