Hey Café,
I am working on a new dove act, and I would like to have a custom jacket made to fit the style and theme of my act. (No tails, just a very contemporary, modern jacket that would have all the details of a dove jacket). Does anyone know of a good place to have custom designed clothing for magicians? Thanks, Alan |

Any skilled tailor or seamstress should be able to do what you need. You will definitely be paying for it, but it can be done.
I don't know of any places that specialize in clothing for magicians (I am new to the scene), but have worked with a tailor to add pockets to the inside of a jacket. Hope that helps (even though it was mildly generic) ~Ben

As Ben said, most tailors or seamstresses should be able to help you out. Seek out the ones that work from home for the best deals. Go to a fabric store and find a pattern and take it to them along with some swatches of material that you would like it to be made of if possible. Fabric stores have a number of pattern books and often near the back is the "costume" section that may have something you'd like if you are looking for something different.
Another route is to find something close to what you want and have them alter it rather than making it from scratch. Option 3, learn to sew or marry someone who can. Pat makes all our custom stuff and sells a line of sewn materials as well to the magic community. (No jackets or suits though.) |
