This includes: ** Four months of M-U-M, the society's respected flagship magazine, in the mail. ** Access to the member-only section of the S.A.M. website, http://www.magicsam.com, alone worth the price of membership. It contains: Archived issues of M-U-M. S.A.M. media library of historical and teaching DVDs. Teach-a-trick segments from magic icons and M-U-M. S.A.M.shop, an online shop of S.A.M. items for S.A.M. members. ** Participation in SAMtalk internet newsgourp with more than 1,700 members. I think is a great way for magicians to discover what the SAM has to offer. The magazine is top notch. You can spend hours on the Film and Tape library. You can check other issues of MUM that has had some great articles in addition to getting the four months in the mail.
Personally, I like being a life member. I don't have to worry about paying the dues each year. And if I live to be 65, it will have paid for itself for what I would have paid in dues. But this is a great way to check out what is there. I know there are a lot of options when it comes to magic groups, magazines and such. Heck, I used to get 6 magazines a month. I would set at work and try to read them on my lunch hour. That only lasted for a few years. I would rather spend my time on a few high quality publications. MUM is one of those. Mark, I think you should clarify how it works for prospective members should they decide to join SAM after trying the magazine. Do they have to belong to an assembly? Does the $25 count towards the first year's dues or do they just start from that point? Anything else they gain my becoming full members..ie insurance? Richard

Thanks Richard
Here are some Q&A that might help: What is Trial Membership? Trial Membership is a four-month, temporary membership option. How much does it cost? $25.00 (U.S.A., Canada, Mexico) or $30.00 for International ($5.00 postage surcharge for mailed M-U-M). What do I get? Trial Membership gives you most of what the S.A.M. offers full members, but without a long-term commitment. This includes Four months of M-U-M magazine. Access to the members-only section of the S.A.M. website. Access to SAMtalk, a members-only moderated online mailing list. Why is the S.A.M. offering Trial Membership? This is an opportunity for those magic enthusiasts who have never read M-U-M magazine or have not seen the other benefits of the S.A.M. to see what all the fuss is about. Seeing is believing How does Trial Membership work? When you pay your $25 temporary dues, you will begin receiving M-U-M magazine in the mail. You also will receive a special membership number that unlocks the members-only section of the S.A.M. website. At the end of four months, your special membership number expires. You will cease receiving M-U-M and will no longer be able to access SAMtalk or the member-only section of the S.A.M. website, unless you renew as a full member. What's the catch? No catch. You are not obligated at the end of your four month period to become a permanent member of the S.A.M., but we're confident that once you sample M-U-M and our other benefits, you will realize that the S.A.M. is THE magic organization for you. How do I sign up for Trial Membership? Click here to sign up online or contact National Administrator Manon Rodriguez at samadministrator@magicsam.com. Please note: Trial membership cannot be used for S.A.M. Convention discounts. Trial members will not receive a S.A.M. membership card or membership pin. For information about assemblies near you use the Assembly Locator, located at the top of every page in the site. Just select your state. |
