I thought I would start here with this question.
Many years ago, I saw an effect done where the the date on a coin was predicted. Several coins were used. They may have all been the same value. The coins were dropped on a table and eliminated based on falling heads up or heads down, until only one coin was left. I was told this idea was created by Johnny Thompson and another fellow. I've also seen this done with rune stones by a German magician and by Sankey using symbols drawn on coins. Does anyone know the name of the original effect and where it appears? Thanks! Craig

Hi Craig,
I believe it goes back to Dunninger but don't have a specific reference right now. In 1980, Bruce Bernstein began publishing variations on the plot which raises the single prediction to two ("Heads & Tails" in his book, 20 Effects for the Psychic Entertainer) and even to three ("All Shook Up" in Classics, 1989). He reports that he first saw it performed by Mike Caveney. Best, Neil

I just wanted to thank everyone for your responses. It really helps.
I have a presentational idea for this and wanted to include the original source in the write up I'm doing. Hope to post it soon. Craig
