Alan
I could be wrong, but I think that video was shot with two cameras.

My Magician character is dressed accordingly. I think it is important to dress in a way that advances what you want people to think of you. If Chris Angel wants to be a rock star magician that is how he dresses. I want to give off the aura of an old time Broke down Vaudvillian. My 60's vintage lime gree pinstripe with ruffled shirt of mis matched colors give people a laugh and I always get a nod of appreciation for it. Someone more serious would need a more traditional look.

One should dress a SUIT only if it SUITS his persona.

How does a copycat with an obviously selected email address (houdini1@_____.net) to use borrowed image from someone they never met complain about conformity in dress as he strives to copy others to be unique just like the others? How unique!
As an old booking agent these types used to drive me nuts. They actually thought they were entitled to be represented by a successful booking agent. However, the best ever was a young man I met in Atlanta in 2008. His loud declaration was "I never do this old fashion magic. I only do the latest new stuff. I do Street Magic." A master of delusion! (That was over 81,000 miles of magic ago for me. I've never seen him again! I've been busy doing the "old fashion" stuff I started doing 50 years ago. Well, I've got to go to be at the Convention Center today. It is paid the repeat of the show I did for them six years ago. The tux was actually requested again by the talent buyer. Just think, I could be uniquely unemployed!) A while back, our house painters informed me that I have 22 tuxedos. Photius, should I take a few to Goodwill? Bob Sanders Magic By Sander PS --- Rule #1 in shooting ducks: Go where there are ducks. Remember that these TV magicians are typically free entertainment to their actual audiences. These "free audiences" are of commercial interest to the sponsors who employ the magicians. The ads are the important part! It is mass marketing to a target market that is attracted to free entertainment. It is hardly the same as selling a ticket! |

I have an orange striped zuit suit with a matching vest (I'm a kids entertainer). I used to own a costume shop so I can tell you if you do hunting around on the internet and talk to some good customer friendly costume shops you can find some really cool unique but classy stuff. The costume shops (the friendly ones - if you talk to the knowledgeable ones)can special order stuff or refer you to small companies and individuals who make small run unique outfits and custom stuff. I used to rent or sell a green shiny suit with dollar signs all over, and a red shiny suit with cool patterns, victorian suits, funny 70's ugly suits, old school rat pack tux's, you name it. Of course you can have a costumer make you custom stuff. You can get cool stuff on ebay - vintage and new.

Robert-Houdin, I believe, was said to have dressed in formal evening wear ("like a gentleman") because he wanted to show his audience that he respected them as fine, upstanding people.
Then Doug Henning came along with the jump suits... and I can't help but think that maybe there should be a renaissance. But maybe the world needs more wizards -- pointy hat and robe. Magic wand a must. |

I just started wearing a suit for my children’s shows because I want to be a positive influence on the children attending my performances and illustrate how a well dressed person should present themselves in public.
Here I am wearing my suit; I had to take it myself, looking into a mirror, because no one wanted to be near me while I wear it |

As A corporate worker I spend a lot of time on clothes for performing
dress is formal for stage & strolling but the colour of jacket with a few well placed matching colour dimantes on the lapels adds a touch of Professionalism, add in an expensive silk shirt great for keeping cool and it suits my area of clientele... On the other side of the coin Ive done gigs in top Hotels with Bands that look fabulous etc then the comedian walks out with beer in hand, Jeans & Tee shirt and gets paid thousands.....go figure |

The challenge:
The clothing should fit 1) the performer, 2) the audience and 3) the venue. My 2 cents Syd
