Hello,
in germany, where I am from, twitter is something that is not that common as it seems to be in other parts of the world. I would be glad if you could give me some insight why you use it? what is it good for? who are the people who read your infos? how does it effect your buisness? and why should someone care about your informations? I can´t really see how it can help me to gain new customers or how to stay in contact with old customers, but I would really like to see the point. thanks for taking the time! rené |

I've tried Twitter... I live in the US and most of the people I know don't seem to use it. What I discovered was a whole bunch of web marketers all screaming to be heard. I got tired of the shouting match and left.
I'm thinking about trying to build a fan page on Facebook. It has a much larger user base and seems a lot less pretentious. The Facebook status updates do the same thing as Twitter, but the rest of the Facebook experience is richer. Everyone in my personal social circle uses Facebook. The only other person I actually *know* who uses Twitter is trying to use it for business purposes. |

Yeah Twitter SPAM is awful.. I hate it
About half my followers are spammers who want to sell my Internet Marketing Firm.. Internet marketing services at a lower price than what I pay.. SPAM I mean think about it.. you send a direct message to someone offering your services cheaper than what they pay.. when THEY DO WHAT YOUR OFFERING... MORON there is a SHIFT in Twitter taking place though back to a social envirment the Twitter staff is working on BANNING the SPAMMERS and trying to bring the "JUNK MAIL" under control.. THANK YOU GUYS but as for me I have booked gigs with my entertainer Twitter Acocunt.. the goal and idea is be social.. it is a social enviroment.. if you try to sell constantly noone listens you want listeners not just followers so to get that you have to GIVE AWAY good content I am registering another twitter account just for the corporate market on the entertainment end of things.. and have already written about 200 Trade show traffic building tips with about 10 of them having links that go to a article in my blog about trade show entertainment no selling on Twitter.. just good info.. and then a link to move them to my site where I sell my other Twitter account (balloon entertainment) has TONS of local mom's and mom groups following me cause I talk about local kid activities 9 out of 10 tweets.. and the 10th tweet is about birthday entertainment with a link to ME so if its BIG in your area it can be VERY powerful to generate prequalified ,and targeted TRAFFIC to your website where you can sell but beware there is SPAM SPAM SPAM.. "but I don't like Spam" "well we do have rye toast with a side of Spam!" "but I don't like SPAM"
its ok.. balloon dogs don't bite

Matthew, that's what I found also. Everyone talking to no one. Facebook fan pages are MUCH more beneficial resource for me, anyway.
That said, using Twitter Search can be a gold mine for real time info. Other than that, haven't found much use in it. |

The original purpose of Twitter was instantaneous updates to one's network on what was going on in your life, or of a though you had.
As others have said, it has become a spam-posting nightmare. To be honest, I've looked into Twitter for marketing (marketing is my profession), and have written it off. Most professional marketing firms have. Too much work for too little return.

Here's a few people that have used it successfully. These are NOT related to magic, BUT it seems to me that these systems could be modeled. Both of these in Los Angeles.
Today, Lance Armstrong tweeted that he would be riding around Griffith Observatory at a specified time. Over 500 riders showed up. A local rolling restaurant vendor (what we used to call a roach coach) has earned a huge reputation for his amazing food. He's at a different location every single day. Every morning he tweets his location and every day tons of people show up just to eat at his rolling restaurant. Both of these smell like money to me. - John Abrams Rebel Entertainer and Guy That's Learning How To Tweet As Quickly As Possible Twitter: johnabrams1 |
