What's the story on Glorpy Tim?
Isn't there someone also making a deluxe edition by hand with hinged gimmick under license? |

As it says on Magic Fakers - "All manufacturing rights to Madblood Creations' original Glorpy were transferred first to Sterling Magic and subsequently to FUN Incorporated. The name Glorpy is the sole property of FUN Incorporated."
http://www.funinc.com/xcart/product.php?......0&page=1 Unsure about the deluxe edition, but if they have licensed it that's great. Is this the one you mean? http://www.fabricmanipulation.com/magict......3-3.html In another now "locked" thread, Doug Higley asked "Tim: What is the Golorpy story as regards Hyrum? I had my fiorst Glorpy in the early 60's. Who came up with Hyrum? There is also a new 'quality' Japanese site that offers a haunted hank...I lost the url though. So the haunted hank is not fair game? Just curious. I insist on Glorpy myself." Hyrum is made by Loftus https://www.loftus.com/item/LF-0038;jses......EFC21B70 and seems to be to Glorpy what the "Robbie Racoon" is to Rocky! Wikipedia states: "Glorpy was created by Madblood Creations (Bill Madden and Bernie Trueblood) circa 1960. It was declared the "Trick of the Millennium" by Genii, the conjurer's magazine'." Is Glorpy fair game? As there is no "statute" with regards to magic products who knows. It seems that as soon as a product starts selling well nowdays, certain manufacturers consider it "fair game" and out come the knock offs. If I was a manufacturer and I wanted to manufacture my own Haunted Hank, I'd first contact Fun Inc and talk to them about it. If they didn't want me to do it, I most likely wouldn't. On the other hand, if I felt my method was an improvement, or my product could really add to the market, or maybe I just thought I could make heaps of $$$$ doing it, the LEAST I could do would be a little research and credit the earlier versions that lead to or influenced the development of my item. Unfortunately this doesn't happen and it gets harder and harder to track down and credit the true creators in the industry as the sands of time become more muddied. As for a Japanese edition, I can't track it down either.

I notice Carl Fulves has a method using a fork in his copyrighted 1988 book SELF WORKING HANDKERCHIEF MAGIC and he called it 'Glorpy'!
Tony, I don't think it's Tenyo that I referenced. Might be but I'll keep looking. It was a nice looking silk in the video.

Possibly not, but it is a Japanese version of Glorpy that is not on Tim's site.
Here is a liink to the performance video: http://www.tenyo.co.jp/magic_en/alllist/index.html I bought the thing when it came out because I liked the look of the handkerchief. Up until this week, I thought it was in public domain. |

Yes, that was a 1996 release by Tenyo and has been discontinued. Tenyo used to be one of the worst offenders in copying other creations but now they are setting the standard for crediting creators and paying royalties for ideas and designs.

George Blake had a version called Haunted Hank. Don't know what year he developed it. The gimmick had a hinge allowing two movements.
