Perofmring is and always should be a continuous learning experience. When one stops learning, that is when the magician needs to put the wand away for a while. I am glad you had a good time and that you learned from the experience. Take that knowledge and apply it for the future. Success is defined through many failures. Failure is really a stepping stone to success.

Glad to see the show went well, Irfaan. Since you enjoyed and gave out your card a couple of times, I suspect more kids shows might come your way. If you want to perform those too, make sure you expand your arsenal of tricks. As long as you keep the presentation interesting, the kids will enjoy it, but just in case the same audience wants a show again, it's nice to have some backup effects waiting.

Good job on the show, sounds great. What were doing for your sponge ball routine? I usually get good reactions. Mr.Greggy has some funny routines in his book, esp. with sponge ball to sponge cube.

"I could definitely do this more often. The kids are easier to handle than adults (in my experience, short as it may be"
I think your are walking on thin ice to make this statement. What I am reading is that you put a couple a tricks together and perform there very well. How many magicians who are working with children do you think are using the colouring book? It is not something special, it is fun that's right. When you are going to take this road (performing for children) you must take the responsibillity to give them a magic experience. That is something different then having "fun". A lot of the magicians can have fun with the children (that is not to complicsate) but a few can give them a truly magic experience. |

We all had fun with the magic. The fact that the adults wanted my card and kids wanted more means that we ALL had a good experience. Fun is good.

I've never done a kids show excluding a few tricks for kids at a church, but I think avoiding things coming out or going into mouths, ears or noses would be wise.
One trick I did involved matches. Nothing bad happened, but I won't show that to kids again just because of the "don't play with matches" thing. |
