What do your guys think about Paul Harris' "Art of Astonishment"? A good buy? Well explained? Contents any good?

A quick search of the topics on the Café will reveal that the AoA books are possibly the best 100 dollars you can spend on magic.

Everyone is so quick to point to past topics, but new topics give new members a chance to comment!
I love the series, I would recommend AoA to anyone. Not all the tricks are explained well, but the content is excellent! They are better than his videos - I do not think he is a good performer! Saxon |

I got my copies about 4 weeks ago and really like them. They are a great read and some super routines. Check out Osmosis (book 2) for a super linking cards effect.

Art of Astonishment is a book series that makes you question the way you currently do magic. For me it was an inspiration as well as a source of great effects. Although every effect is not meant to be performed under every circumstance it is still a great catalyst for creative thought.

Anyway, the AoA series could be renamed as "the collected works of Paul Harris" simply because it includes all his old material plus a lot more! Old ideas are updated and new ideas are fresh and original. Buy them! |
