Hey guys,
Just a quick survey for the restaurant performers. How do you schedule your payments from the restaurant? Do you request money at the end of each night? Once a week? Once a month? It seems to me that a weekly or monthly invoice would be perceived as more professional, but I wonder if it may just be the opposite - being seen by the GM as a large monthly expense that he has to justify to his boss. Thanks, Richard |

One pays me end of night per hand-delivered invoice. Another pays me weekly through mailed invoices. The third and fourth pay me monthly per mailed invoice. They all pay on time and hassle-free...which has not always been the case with other restaurants.

All restaurants are different. Remember, it's not about what is easier/better for YOU...it's all about the restaurant.
Currently, I am paid at Cristina's at the end of every night. I work, I see the manager at the end of my shift, I'm paid cash out of the till, I go home. But at Crystals, I'm paid a week behind. I go in on Friday and work my Friday, Saturday, Sunday shifts, and then when I return on the following Friday, I'm paid in Cash for what I worked the previous week. I have had restaurants that had no budget for entertainment so I was just added to their payroll and like all other employees, I got a weekly or bi-weekly paycheck. Some of those qualified for Direct Deposit into my bank account (that was nice!). When I recently played at Applebees, I had to submit a weekly invoice and then I was paid at the end of the month for what I had worked up to that point (except they were paying me 3+ weeks late which didn't jive to well with me). Once, I even had a GM use PayPal to pay me. On the night I was to work, I would receive a PayPal a few hours prior to me arriving. That way, I wouldn't have to bother him during the night to get paid. I also had a restaurant pay me UP FRONT for 4 weeks. The first of every month, I'd walk in and get a check for what I was going to bill them for that month. Lot's of differnt options...ask the restaurant what they prefer and go with that... Christopher

I invoice then so they always have three months worth of dates then I pick up my check before I leave that night. I'll ivoice them for January at the end of this month. Works well for both of us.

All good suggestions. I simply ask the manager how they would like to handle payment. They will let me know what is most convenient for them. The most common in my case has been cash or check weekly... paid for the previous weeks work.

At one restaurant (which I just got home from) I am paid by check, at the end of each nights performance. At another restaurant I am paid at the end of the each month. Everyone is right about the fact that it depends on the restaurant. Each one is different.

I'm paid every two weeks in one restaurant. I fill out a 1099 Miscellaneous
Vendor Invoice. They pay by check. The other pays in cash at the end of the night. They just want a invoice for their records.
