Hi,
I just purchased "Color Monte" and I am having a little problem with the requisite sleight. Does anyone know a good source to learn the sleight used in "Color Monte". I don't want to give away anything about the trick so if you know what book I can reference it in please PM me. Thanks a bunch. -Jeff |

Daryl's full monte video teaches the moves well. Also, go to penguinmagic.com and look at the demo, if you have the trick the moves will be obvious to you and watching someone else do it might help..

I agree, watch the demo at Penguin. Oz does a great job with the Color Monte.

I learned the move completely from penguinmagic's video.

I'm confused. I have been doing color monte for many years and I believe there is no "requisit sleight". There are a series of sleights beginning with a double turnover, the christ/somebody thingy and throw in a double lift botoom placement in there somewhere. None are difficult.

Oh sure, I can spell "Antidisestablishmentarianism", but I can't type t-h-e.

I am guessing the sleight you'd be talking about, is when you show the "top" card to be the same color as well.
The Penguin demo is good, but the way that turnover is done, isn't easy to learn just by watching. I'd put the three cards in more of a "tiled" layout, and slide the top forward. Try it, and you will see what I mean. Besides, you should be telling the story as you do it, so once you get the move down, you should be able to keep the audience eyes on you, and not the cards, till you do the turnover. |

Hopefully you have mastered the sleight by now and are long on your way to knocking people's socks off.
If not, I have a different answer then everyone else on how to learn the sleight. If you bought the trick at a magicstore I would suggest going back to the store with it. They in most cases will be more then happy to help and you will gain a relationship with someone who can help you in the future. I buy most of my stuff from an actual store for this very reason. Sorry if you don't have access to a magicshop or club. Shawn |

I made that effect without buying it just from watching penguin...the sad part is I spent 20 min drawing that little green guy...
just watch the demo and you'll learn everything... |

I would say that if you are going to perform this effect it would be good ethics to purchase it (especially for the small amount it costs.) In this way you would be supporting the creator and giving him something back for the great thinking and ideas behind the effect (even if you can work out the required moves.)
Maybe this is a topic for another post. Just my opinion. Thanks |

I second that on Daryl's Full Monte video.
It is full of info and Daryl is a great teacher. |
