Forgot, there was also a huge binder with about 350 magicians' cards in it, from Annemann to Vernon. I think they wanted between $3,000 and $4,000 for it.

It was actually in the corner of a large souvenir shop, you could look at the stuff with your back to the crowds getting t-shirts and stuffed dolls. I bought a Flipped Out Fours and a Color Monte as well as a Siberian Chain Escape. When I was in the Main Street Magic Shop, it was a narrow corridor between two other shops and you couldn't really examine the stuff because you had people bumping up against you as they went from one shop to the other.

I'm sorry, it still involves living in Florida which is too hot and muggy for me.
Other than that, and the money involved, yeah it'd be great.

Just got back from Disneyland, and visited the magic shop on Main Street. The magicians on staff seemed a bit young and fumbly.
They had a signed Steve Martin pic on the wall, I asked when he worked there; "I don't know..way back in the 70's or something". They didn't have 13 steps or sell foam-balls sans DVD, but otherwise a reasonable selection. Mostly gag, but decent enough. Anyone elese been lately?

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

I can see that this topic is pretty old, but I just wanted to add that I went to Disneyland not too long ago and bought some giant Houdini posters for my house. I also picked up some invisible thread, and Houdini Magic's Gambler's Marked Deck. I don't really like trick decks all that much, but this deck is marked, stripped, and stacked, making it fun and easy to play with for beginners like me that need more time improving the skills needed to pull off tricks with a straight deck.
It's also really funny to stand in the store and listen to park guest talk about magic and magicians. The store is full of simple gags and tricks that anybody can buy and perform almost instantly, so you will often hear guest asking the Magic Shop employee's things like, "So all I have to do is buy this stuff, and I can be a magician?" It's a fun little store that I think ads to Main Street in such a big way! Also, the window display to the store is awesome!

The magic shop is gone from WDW, but the "new" Mickey Mouse meet-and-greet character is magically amazing! His speaks with coordinated mouth movements, his eyelids blink, and he does magic tricks! It's true, he will on occasion bring out jumbo cards and do a "pick a card" trick. It was great, and has an "all the cards are the same" comedy kicker.

Reason was, for the Merlin shop, it was part of a bigger group of stores that were all one inside, but the magic counter was in a corner so you could ignore the people buying stuffed toys and mouse ears behind you. The one time I went into the Main St. shop, it turned out to be a counter in a narrow section between two other, larger shops. Trying to look at stuff, I kept getting bumped into by people going in one direction or the other. I just had a better time at the Merlin Shop.
