You seem a bit calmer in this post.
Now that you've explained the routine a bit more and since you can do X-Con with the S&H gimmick I've got a feeling that you could make alot of people happy by offering something along these lines... Offer to send an electronic copy of the manuscript for X-Con to S&H owners for between $6 and $8 USD. You could have people name a particular word on a particular page of the S&H manual to prove that they own it. I don't think that it would fall prey to too much piracy since you need a gimmick to do the effect. |

I just spoke with Reed and I really think everyone here is missing out on some points.
I own S/H and love it. I think, and this is just my own opinion, that if you're not a "worker" and only have opportunities to perform for limited audiences then maybe some of these effects are not for you. I stroll 5 nights a week and have had great reactions from S/H many, many times. I got full detail on X-Con and I must say that it is not S/H by any means! (at least to me) It has some very strong and very different emotional and psychological points that I think many of you would really love. It also comes with a certain something that I am not at liberty to mention at this point that is a killer kicker! I guess you have to be honest with yourselves and figure out if you really perform many, if any, of the items you actually go out and purchase for walk around. I know I have a junk drawer that I sometimes go back and visit on occasion, but I have to say that S/H is not in there. I am excited about recieving X-Con just as soon as it is available so I can try out some new presentations that I know, if you really take time and practice, you will just fry your lay folk! Sorry for being so long winded, but I really think these are both really great products that need some serious consideration. If you 're in the Orlando area, do drop me a PM and you can come out to my spot to check out some of my own variations! Thanks for listening(reading), Tim P

I Respect Mr.Reed and don't think he would put something out for us to use, if he did not think it was any good. It sound to me that X-Con is a twist on S&H. They work together but two totally different effects.
Anything Mr.Reed puts out is worth buying. Brad

Last night, Reed and I discussed the idea behind X-con.
What would make this interesting to perform is HOW it affects the participants. This one has something to offer those who've read 'Godel Escher Bach' and who take performing as an opportunity to enroll and engage their audiences.

Exactly. In turn, these are 2 completley different effects, with different kind of gimmicks. One set to do one thing, the other to do another.

Thank you guys! I appreciate your feedback, as some of you know what X-CON is about. I am going to have the write up of the effect up on http://www.reedmcclintockmagic.com within the next few days. This will give you all a much stronger sense of the effect.
As Jon points out, it is an emotional roller coaster ride type of effect. It has some visuals in the routines that really are amazing looking, it also plays on their mind and devistates thm in the end for the killer climax, all wrapped up in the routine. I am sorry I am being so vague but it is imperative I am like this until this release. Until then I hope many of you will hang tight. If I put my name on a product of mine, I would not release something I think is just going to get me some money. I do not and would not try to rip anyone off. My offerings magic wise are sincere. I know what many of you go through when you buy a trick that is a huge let down. I am in the same boat as many of you. I buy magic too. I feel if I release my magic to the communities I open myself up for plenty of criticism. That happens to anyone who releases stuff. I however think and feel that if someone buys a product of mine, that if it is not for them I hope that they don’t feel ripped off. They hopefully can say well this cool but it just isn’t for me. I have heard several people say a trick is dumb or lame, but it is only because they cannot do it. I have found a lot of guys release armchair theory tricks. Meaning they think of it one night the next they are in production to get it out the next day. I am not nor do I do that. Here is the deal; if I am at a convention and someone says hey do that so and so, well I better be able to do it. I have asked several people who have released product to only tell me Oh UHHH errrhmmm uhh and give me an excuse of some sort. I believe in my products and use this stuff in my own repertoire. I use my twist I use S/H, X-Con, Ivory connection, many of the coin effects that are in the Knuckle Busters series. Yes I have moved on to other coin effects of my own inventions and they are all very usable and I can do everyone of them. I do not offer pipe dream magic; I offer the communities a real world-working piece that is 100% commercial. It is only up to you the end user to put the time into learning the effect. |

Hi Andy. I can certainly understand and appreciate your concern. Let me just add my two cents. Stars and Hexes came out and I thought it was very good. However there are some factors I can't get into that I probably would not USE it. I realized this after I started working with it. Please don't misunderstand me. An item can be GREAT but because of the workings it might not be right for one's working conditions. Look at some of the Tommy Wonder items... fabulous beyond description but many will never do these due to the complexity and commitment required (I am working on 3 of the items). Also, I personally choose not to use a Topit as an example. It's not that it is bad (quite the contrary) it's just that I don't feel comfortable with it. Anyway, during a conversation (after the release of Stars and Hexes) with Reed (just a few weeks ago), Reed discussed X-Con. I flipped. I told Reed "That is brilliant, now I'd USE that. That is AWESOME!". Many of Reed's other friends encouraged him to go forward with this due to the "in the trenches" handling, etc. No fuss, no mess, just strong magic that happens TO the spectator and involves all of the stuff that intrigues them. Again, I understand your concern but in my opinion it is like comparing the shell coins across (ex. Roth) to 3 Fly. They both use (apparently) 3 or 4 coins that travel across but that is where it ends. So similarities do not necessarily mean it's the same. Obviously if you feel uncomfortable about purchasing this I'd recommend that you simply not purchase it. I don't think Reed is trying to cram this down anyone's throat. I however think it is really awesome and something I will personally USE. To me that is very valuable as I perform for real people in real working environments. I know the value of such items as X-Con, Xpert, Pinnacle, Just Passin' Thru, etc. For me personally these items are awesome and I thank the guys who created them every time I go make money performing with them. I hope that answers some of your quetsions/concerns. I know Reed is trying to give to the magic community and share his thinking/working items. I believe he has made a valuable contribution with X-Con. As I previously posted, I consider X-Con to be the best thing Reed has released to date. Have a great day.

I just got off the phone with Reed, all I can say about X-con is that I want it now! This will absolutely kill your audience, I can't wait to get this & start doing it.

I wonder when the magic market is going to slow down? If it doesn't I am going to be broke soon.

Have you noticed that the Pick-Pocketing items have been getting more popular? Coincidence???
