There is only one illusion book I know of, "The Original Illusions of Ralph Adams", which comes with a video tape. It does include the method for the dancing hank which is also shown on the video as well. It includes also the "Twin Box Illusion" (easily constructed and on Grant's Victory Cartons), Hindu Sword Basket, Boy from the Floor, The Levitation, Sudan Chair, Doll to Dancer, Spook Cabinet, Floating Pyramid, and more. It's about 93 pages.

Dear Sean,
Ralph Adams was a great thinker. The quality of his illusions surpasses 'good' by far ! Best regards, D |

It's definitely well worth the money! The ideas contained in both the book and the video are priceless.

Ralph Adams revolutionized the use of 'selective' black art. The book and video set are required study for anyone who is interested in stage illusions.

I also got the book and video from Denny and Lee.
I was doing some extensive research on various methods of the dancing hank, and his variation should be required reading for anyone looking to add this effect to their show. Michael |

You can see Doug Henning performing Ralphs' hanks on the "Magic Show" DVD. It is a really great effect, and I believe stronger that the single hank.
I really enjoy the Adams' book, and the story (be it short) about how he became known in the business is an inspiration. Blair Marshall "ShaZzam!"

I mentored under Ralph for about 7 years and was an assistant in his show. Wonderful person, very generous, and was so much more than even the book tells.
Unfortunately Ralph is no longer with us, he passed away quite a few years back. But I am sure he would be pleased to see his ideas are still being studied and perhaps used. I am glad many of his ideas were documented in the last years of his life; I wonder how many other older magic inventors out there might need their ideas documented, preserved, and archived and shutter to think how many works/ideas have already been lost? I personally think his use of "selective black art" concepts are a thing of beauty because even magicians "in the know" were astonished and could not tell when and/or where black art was being used. Even if you do not have or want a "black art oriented" show, I think the "selective" use can allow for the method to be leveredged even in a more "modern" stage setting. So, I agree with David, the book should be required study for those interested in illusions. didgemagic |

He was way ahead of his time..marvelous stuff.
The other great thing about his performance of his illusions was that 'he got on with it' no uneeded fluffing and time filling just direct and strong magic with unique method. Excellent. It really is great reading and watching. Mark Parker - http://www.4-effect.com
