CaféExpress has several options for giveaways and they seem to make up only what's ordered, print on demand basis... unless I misread the hype I had on file.
They do everything from cups, mugs, t-shirts, bags, frizbees, hats, mouse pads and all sorts of stuff. Frankly, I'm looking into them myself, as soon as I finish with the Café here! As to BOR (Back of the Room) sales, as a stage hypnotist, I have a small selection of CD's that I offer for self improvement when doing public shows, but only mention them when doing private events and that so casually that it is often missed and people will ask if I have something like that after the show. At $10.00 each, it is quite a money maker. Shipping and handling gets charged at $3.95/unit to cover just that. I run the CD's on my home system and use the Fellows labelling package to put the labels on the disks. Slap them into a thin gem case (which I get for pennies when bought in bulk) and away they go! Of course, sales tax does enter into the picture, but that's part of the cost of doing business - and can be passed along to the consumer! If you want to go whole hog - Kardwell Co. http://www.kardwell.com, I believe, does custom decks of playing cards with your logo for very reasonable prices as well. These make great give aways for upscale clients as well. Lee Darrow, C.Ht.

I had a shirt made for me at a local T-shirt shop with my clown picture, name (Professor Pickles) above and "He's a Dilly" below. It has drawn lots of attention for me.
I may look into making one myself for my magic too.

I enjoy your t-shirt idea and hope it has worked to generate interest and possible business for you. After all, t-shirts are another great marketing weapon.

Have an easy walk around trick to do and when folks look at you, ask if they would like to see a trick. You could get a few people around you to watch and hand out your business card afterwards. You could do the fortune telling fish and give it out afterwards with your business card inside or put a new label on the back of the envelope with your business card duplicated on the label. Ever since I first attended a Jeff McBride lecture, I always have a couple of tricks with me at all times. I do them while standing in line or for wait staff and other folks who have done something for me, it adds to your appreciation, besides the tip. Jeff's philosophy is that we should bring magic to everyone we meet and I have embraced the philosophy. I have seen what a difference doing soemthing simple can do to make a person's day a little better. Try it, you'll like it.

If you are going to do a t-shirt, then make sure it works best for you by having your logo, name or number on it as well. You do not want to oversell yourself, but you do want this to be a vehicle in your marketing campaign.

At the IBM in KC there was a dealer with some great comedy magic tee shirts.
The one I like was the one that had to be read backwards. Some seemed to be just funny to magicians. I did not buy one of theirs, but it started my mind going into the advertising side of magic. Kyle called the T-Shirts walking Bill Boards. Has anyone actually used a Bill Board in their advertising approach. If so how did it play out for you. My hat is off to all you magic and business minded folks. As they say, (whoever they are) first you have to get their attention. Of course multiple hits(notices) are usually necessary prior to a purchase.(whatever that means) You are all appreciated for getting this nearly normal guys brain headed in the right direction. Thank you Harris. Just remember that half of the time, the first impression a client gets of you or your show is through the promotional materials that they receive from you. With this in mind, make sure it looks professional as it can and is the most effective for you.

A friend of mine buys a bulk of T-shirts. He offers a free airbrushed T-shirt with his supreme package. It's like getting free advertisement.
He had the airbrushed shop make a stencil out of cardboard. He receives many calls on his supreme package. The airbrush shop gives him a discount because of the ton of shirts that are made. The stencil is a cartoon character of himself, name and phone number. |

How about the princess card trick with six cards on the front and five on the back?

That is a nice idea and certainly gets his name out as well as people wearing his walking billboards.

Not to solicit anything here by any means, but the company I work for now has the means of getting your name on to t-shirts or really most any object you can think of from shirts to sports bottles. It is called specialty product marketing and you can really get some nice products at some great prices to give out to your clients or potential clients.
There are so many things you can do besides just shirts. I have used a business card type of magnet. This is great because the client can use in on their fridge and your name and information is always infront of them. If anyone is intersted in more information regarding t-shirts or specialty product marketing, simply PM me. I would be happy to help you out and give you any information that I have. Great post and keep it up. =)
