At the card table expect rough justice.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

The Papacy's been stealing money for millenia. I don't think old Ratzinger would mind a good old fashioned crooked game.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was a joke!
Something like: One day, the Pope, having come across a cardsharp working monte in the vatican city streets, said "You should never gamble, my son, for gambling is the work of the devil, and God, just and honest, will always triumph over such evil." The cardsharp, packing up his winnings to leave, said "I don't know about that!" "But I do!" replied the Pope, "It is written that God will triumph on the last day and strike down Satan and his followers! How could you say that God will not win?" Coolly, the cardsharp replied: "You said God was honest. The devil cheats!" Meh, it's not much. I came up with it on the spot. |

You can't make a good living from one God.

"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time." "The dog did nothing in the night-time." "That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes. |
