It's a lovely kit. And, the needles are of superb quality. Very good value for money, all things considered.

I have Harry Anderson's version but always felt a little dodgy due to the shine and other aspects of the wound. With this version being more closeup have you been 'caught' in performance? My fears may simply be a case of being overly sensitive to the setup and seeing things the audience doesn't pick up on.
I like the idea of the application bottle. I think I would order the roller ball version as well. (I am surprised the liquid doesn't gum up the applicator) How leak proof are the gimmicked needles?
All small town magicians know what 793.8 signifies.

Not to put the kibosh on any of this but, I can recall Andrew Mayne having a portable version of at least the needle through arm part. In fact I'm sure of it, since I have used it in the past. The act of straitening the paper clip before the piercing really gets em going. "but you can't? It's not sterile" and such were the type of comments I got.
Just seems, and again this is not a definitive or derogatory statement on this product but it seems, like this could be done at a more reasonable cost, and with knowledge we already have? If however, there is something new and innovative in this product, or if the props are of some exemplary quality that I'm unaware of, I will recant my position for a more favorable one? Thank you.
Just cause they say it, doesn't make it true.

Jdmagic357, I just received mine and after using Harry Anderson's for years I can say this is a great value. If you look at what you get, it's a bargain. Fake blood, medical grade lube for the needle, 4 needles (2 capillary) and a first aid kit with bandages, etc. that enhance the illusion if you're going the medical route. The stat patches are just OK, and take a bit of work to apply correctly (I could see improvements here), but the tube is awesome. An older roller ball does have issues with application, but the bottle with a small hole is *perfect* if you perform on a spectator -- you just have to make sure not to overdo it (as always with this effect).
You could easily incorporate Andrew's presentation here, but the props you're getting are excellent. Honestly I think my favorite part is that you can prep the needles in advance, then seal them in real medical sterilization packs (used for needles), keeping the lube intact until performance. Something can always be done cheaper -- but if you're looking for a complete package and great angle on the presentation, this is a good buy. I ordered one from Magic.org expedited for a show I've got coming up AND a backup set from Madhatter which is backordered

I have had the basic Stat effect for some time and it is great but it doesn't come with all the extras you all have posted here. I'll put it on my list

I got this set as a free gift from magic.org because they didn't have something in stock I needed when I placed my order. that they said they had in stocik. I chose something else, and also got this free.
The needles are quite good quality, the bulbs screw on and off so they have a good seal. After a few performances one of the bulbs had a small hole and wouyld leak. This could just be me being to rough. The kit also came with a first aid bag, good fake blood, a compression bandage to use as a blind fold and a good amount of the 'swab' gaff applications. Here is a vid of a practice run for a halloween show, you can see you get a good amount of flow from a small needle/blub. https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?v=......&theater |

Can I just confirm, the STAT gimmick will work with any needle, right?
I don't really need everything that's contained in the first aid kit, so I'd rather just buy the needle and gimmick separately. |

Ok I do this illusion with a lot of different things... for about $4 at Walmart. You have to get the item fresh about every 6-12 months or it dries out and gets all.... rubbery. Anyhow... I do this with string, cord, the list goes on and on. So these needles have a simple squeeze and bleed gimmick. Correct me if I am wrong here but a trip to Menards and a bit of very little tooling would produce the same effect on almost any item so why pay over $70 for this?? I am befuddled. Sure it is a cool effect but anyone who messes around with this type of thing knows how simple it is to do.

Anyone who knits would have some other useful things to tool on. Got a crochet you know what and a dremmel? Then pop a squeezy thing on the end and save some bucks. Just sayin'
