Is this a bad idea? -- Put little mini sponge balls into the vanishing cane and then turn those into like a 2 inch sponge ball to transition to sponge ball magic?

Can you gather up the mini balls once the cane vanishes? I can imagine that they will go everywhere and be hard to pick up, off the floor gracefully.

Won't they slow down the vanishing movement?
But it sounds funny, Lencano |

You could possibly use smaller sponge balls and string them together.

I can imagine the visual...a cane suddenly turns into balls-like it! That would be a good lead-in to a sponge ball sequence. James' idea of stringing them together is very good thinking, not having balls all over the stage. You might want to string them in a way you can pull them apart.

I seem to remember an Ali Bongo effect that I think was called "Candy Cane". It consisted of a clear plastic tube, suitably modified, that a cane could be inserted into and changed into candy. I suppose the same could be done with sponge balls, but candy is better. Maybe, an M&M could be turned into a 2" sponge ball, in the hands - seems like a better idea to me.

My experience is that the sponges will roll as the cane is vanished and bind and bunch. Then they will explode all over once the cane skin is collapsed. You would have to do it in a net tube.

Vanishing cane and Sponge ball bit far to connect them as routine. Mostly we are using vanishing cane for a stage show, so doing a sponge ball routine might not a good idea.

Perhaps you should change a spomge ball into an appearing cane?
