Great topic guys, and interesting thoughts....
Much like in movies/acting The star of the show carries the weight of it....I think when someone decides to go on TV to perform magic, if you are banking that just demonstrating someone else's creation, trick, is enough, they can lose the attention of the masses. BUT If the star is interesting, engaging, charismatic, fascinating, has a story etc.... the viewer will watch, and remember them. A good actor can read the phone book, and have you glued to them... a bad one could read shakespeare and die on his arse. just something to think about, This is only from my experience from the other side of the camera as a Writer/producer in this genre. best, Andrew Gerard

As a Professional Actor for the last 9 years, I agree wholeheartedly.
It's the Performer as much as the performance, sometimes more.
