A dual control gimmick comes with the set of attachments to the Invisible Hand. I have used this walk-around and it is a stunner (the rising card, that is). One of my favorite attachments using this holdout and, using the holdout, I can lower or raise the gimmick into my waiting hand. I'm not familiar with the hookup that Michael Vincent is selling but permanently attaching sounds like a little bit of a pain. However, the effect is so CLEAN it may be worth it.

If you wear a long sleeved shirt this IMO is very difficult to use. I bought this but due to the constant difficulty in Hooking up I decided to let it go. However of you wear a short sleeved shirt it will work fine.

I bought this from Alakazam when it was initially re-released (2009?). I'd used the gimmick for many years previous but purchased it to see what had been added.
Here's my honest opinion - desperately disappointed. Firstly, having the hook-up sewn into a jacket sleeve is utterly pointless in my opinion. It adds absolutely nothing to the original set-up (fully detailed by Lewis. Ganson in the Art of Close-Up Magic, Volume 1). The 'Invisible thread' supplied with my gimmick could be used for whaling - it's honestly that thick. If the manufacturer/supplier truly deemed this to be invisible, then they clearly didn't have a bloody clue what they were providing; nor for what purpose(s). There was also only one set of 'the necessary' in order to rig up one jacket. The entire cost of the gimmick are a matter of literally a few pence; and irrespective of it not being fit for purpose, that doesn't excuse the tight-fisted approach taken. Moving on. For those that have purchased this believing it can only be used by sewing it into a jacket sleeve, well for heaven sake use a little bit of creativity. It can easily be pinned inside your shirt (under your armpit) and used via the shirts opening at the front. It will just mean adapting your handling, that's all. Suffice to say that I adore Dual Control, and have used it for many years - Alan Alan was a master with it (particularly for getting a card to rise from a borrowed pack, and the two pencil routine). Watching him dem it was a joy to behold. Yet another absolute gem hidden away in the pages of an old book (and I'd personally recommend the written instruction rather than the DVD in this instance). Such a shame that it's re-release was just so poorly thought through in some aspects.

There was a Dual Control method with just a small loop of monofilament. About a 6" Circumference. I think it was in a Linking Ring One Man Parade in the late 90's. Thanks! |
