Does anyone know if there is a book out besides Dick Norman's from the 50's? Something that is reliable and very well researched. Don.

Don,
I don't think there's a lot out there that will tell you how to gimmick cuffs. I'd suggest buying a few pairs of cheap and nasty cuffs to work out how you're going to do it (and practice on), then once you've got them working how you want, do it on a pucker pair (S&W / Peerless / Hiatts). And when taking the proper ones apart, be sure you have the know how (including tools and skills!) to put them together again afterwards!! Having said all that ... it's probably better to just buy a pair!! Regards, James. |

James, it depends on how the person gimmicks the cuffs. With certain makes and models you can do diffrent things. Some might require either a file or a machine shop. If I could take apart a pair of handcuffs, how does one put them back together? They seem pressed to me. Does anyone here know? Don,

Don,
Hence me saying ... you need to have the tools and the knowhow to put them together again! I doubt anyone will tell you how! The people who do have the skills make gimmicked cuffs then sell them to people like you and me! James. |

James, I'm a locksmith. It can't be to hard to gimmick them, and yes some will reveal their secrets. Don,

Don,
I'm glad it's not too hard to gimmick the cuffs, and also that people are so open to share how they do it. Good luck! James. |

James, thank you. I just looked at a pair of Smith and Wessons 100's today. I noticed something that may help in escaping without doing anything to the cuffs. If it works I'll let you know. Don,
