I'm embarrassed to say that I'd not heard of Ray Alan until someone posted about him on another board. I found this clip, which is I think is absolutely great. Fabulous technique, acting on Ray's part and very clever material that shows off technique in the most understated way.

I'd like to hear from you UK vents about Ray Alan, who is apparently still performing.

It's a fantastic clip. There was one on you tube with Lord Charles doing mind reading but that seams to have been removed.
The line about the green duck refers to Keith Harris and Orvile one of the younger ventriloquists at the time.
The face of Lord Charles was modelled on Stan Larrel.

Ray is/was a supeb impressionist as well, although he didn't do this with his dummies.

There was a great clip of them both on the Paul Daniels show too. At one point Lord Charles ends up in the Guillotine from memory.

I've done a search but no luck. If anyone knows of that one could you please post a link?

When was the last time you saw a UK vent on TV? Last time I remember was when Justin Lee Collins was doing his convention crashers but that's not the same.
