Lately, I've began to think that Qualatex is sponsored by me.

Balloon manufacturers have nothing to gain by "sponsoring" an artist in their day-to-day work. The general public doesn't care what brand of balloons a balloon artist uses, just as long as they get one (a generalization, hopefully people don't care if they get a balloon, as long as they were entertained in seeing one, but that's not always the case.)
The only type of sponsoring balloon companies do is at conventions. They will (I believe) foot the bill for an artist's travel costs and hotel. They will definitely provide product for the artist's classes. The reasoning is that if people see "This Great Artist" using "X-Brand Balloons," other balloon artists will buy "X-Brand Balloons" to be able to replicate their sculptures. |

I know a little bit about this topic ; )
For conventions and industry events manufacturers and distributors do provide balloons if they are sponsoring you to teach for them but only what you need for your seminars. I normally decline because the number of balloons I use in a class is less than I use at an average gig, and the time it takes to check and sort them is more trouble than just bringing my own set up. I will sometimes have them provide balloons for my students to use in class or for me to toss out as door prizes. Most of my experience has been with Qualatex of course, but I do know a lot of people at Betallatex and their instructors. The only other time that they usually provide free product is for jams. If you are organizing a big balloon jam, many times a manufacturer and sometimes even a local distributor will send you a couple of bags of their latest product to be shared at the jam. Of course if they do, it is considered good form to send them photos of any cool new designs that result so they can use them in their publications or websites. Sometimes (not often, but sometimes) they will provide some balloons if you are doing a charity or not for profit event that they feel is worth while. But they get a lot of requests for this type of donation so they are pretty selective.
