By accident I stumbled across this Japanese Silk Routine which is offered by UGM.
Product: http://www.ugm.co.jp/19_1505.html Demonstration Movie: http://www.ugm.co.jp/video/marcominesilkroutine.wmv Beside the typical Japanese demonstration, I like it very much. Unfortunately, I got one problem: I don’t understand any Japanese and don’t know any magician personally who does. So even ordering at that side is beyond my scope. Therefore, I would be glad, if you could point my to some similar effect, written or demonstrated in English language Thank You Lui |

Posssibly you could contact Steve Marshall through MUM and see if he can offer some help. He is in Japan.

Lui,
If you click on their English e mail address it will take you to another page. Check the bottom left of that page and you'll see a link to their web site in English. |

Contact Stevens Magic at http://www.stevensmagic.com or email them, they have a tight connection with the owner of UGM. Maybe they can get the item for you. Email Mark Stevens at Mark@stevensmagic.com
You will not get any English instructions or DVD, so you will have only the DVD to make out how to prepare and execute the silks. |

Thank You everybody for your support. I discovered that stevensmagic carries the macro-mine silks
Regular : http://www.stevensmagic.com/index.php?ma......d=111503 Deluxe : http://www.stevensmagic.com/index.php?ma......d=111506 Now, I’m left to ponder about going deluxe or not. |

Seems like a 'no brainer' to me, the Deluxe set is the way to go as far I see it. A nice silk sequence and a climax bottle production for the finale.
Unless you have something to do with the silks in the regular section, the deluxe is a full routine. |

I support the Deluxe set too.

Hi Lui:
Thanks for posting that link. Kenji Minemura is an old friend and it was fun to see him do that routine. I recognized some of the silk techniques to be from the act of the late Dutch magician Marconick, but done with some extremely clever improvements. So when I see that Kenji-San is calling it the "Marco Mine" Silk routine, I assume that he is honoring Marconick as the inspiration for his silk routine. By the way Kenji, speaks English pretty well, so I think it is possible that the DVD has him doing the instructions in English. Best regards to All, Levent http://www.LeventMagic.com

3 weeks ago I was with Yuji Yamamoto (owner of UGM) on a convention in Slovenia. As Levent has already said Kenji`s routine is based on Marconick`s Triangle silk routine from his book Original magic (Bewildering silk routine in Ganson`s book "Marconick`s silk magic". Kenji is both a great magician and DVD producer so this DVD should be easy to follow no matter what language do you speak.
UGM has one more new DVD on silk magic by Yuji Yamamoto and I am sure it will be a great addition to anyone's collection. I will get it in a week or two and than I can post some more details about it. |

Very nice routine! Thanks for the links.
Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.

Would anyone happen to know, after purchasing the routine, how difficult it would be to make the gimmicks using different silk colors?
Thanks in advance.

Michael,
If you can or know someone that can sew silk by hand, it would not be difficult at all, I have the Marconic book and everything is within the realm of anyone. Most of Marconic's ideas are good, but not many people use them because they take time to set up and to be honest, are not complete tricks as I see them. Example: Pick up a silk and shake it, and a silk appears, shake again and another appears, until you have 5 silks. Another is pull a silk out of your pocket and produce a plastic glass of liquid. Marco Mine Silk effect has broke through this by makeing a complete silk routine. Incorperating sleight of hand and body steals to create an enjoyabe sequence of effects with silk. If you are like the moving silk part, Abbott's has been selling this for years under the name. Triple Change Silk. It was a Neil Foster favorite and he included it in his act all the time. I just purchased Marco Mine Silks. It can't be too close up as the spectators will see the gimmicks.
In the video Kenji is able to prepare the silk rolls so easily and perfect that my clumsy hands finds frustrating. I can put them into their little rolls so-so but the guy has such a technique. Anyone else have these silks find getting those little rolls difficult? |

If you are having problems, then start your roll with small stick cut from an 1/8" wood dowel. Sand and round the ends. With a little practice you should be able to make the tight bundles with little effort. As you said he demonstrates it on the video, after 100 times you will be able to do the same. |
