I want to make a silk that looks like snowflakes falling against a blue sky. My idea is to buy blue silks and drop some drops of bleach here and there to make it look like white dots (snow) against the blue. Will it work? Will the bleach destroy the silk? Thanks.

Bleach will destroy the silk. Depending how you want the silk to look, you could resist the areas for the snow flakes and then immersion dye the rest. The resisit may not hold up in the water though. In which case, you could go to a batik process (wax) and then dry clean it to get the wax out.
Depending how you plan to use the silk, get a blue silk and airbrush with fabric paint snowflakes. You could use a stencil. Richard

I vote for the wax process.

You can get regular fabric paint that will add little or no thickness.

Richard,
Maybe he just invented a new trick "Vanishing Message". Write it on the silk and then bleach the silk! The silk disappears. LOL Enjoy! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |
