Hansel,
Abbott's is like no other convention. It is really hometown and relaxed. I know you love SAM. Well Abbott's makes SAM look like formal affair. It does have some challenges but not insurmontable to come to. First there are no hotels in town. There are several hotels about 20 minutes to a half hour away. But Abbott's can assist you in finding lodging in town. There are several individuals and fishing cottages that rent out for the week. If you a couple buddies stay, it is cheaper than the hotels and certainly more convenient. Food is cheap and good. Several churches and groups serve suppers. There are three restaurants, a pizza place, ice cream shop with food and a gas station with good food and snacks. If you stay in the surrounding towns, there are Wallmarts and all the traditional fast food places. For Air flights, you would fly into Detroit and then rent a car. I would plan on a full week. Come in on Tuesday. Everything gears up full blast on Wednesday. But there is always a few early people that come in and go to the Legion on Tuesday. About 50 minutes away is Marshall, Michigan which has the American Museum of Magic. This is something you would definitely want to see. Look at some of the stuff on the Abbott's pages and the articles on the Newest Tops. It is very hard to describe Abbott's. It truly is a family of people who come year after year. Once you come, you will want to come year after year. BTW, dress is very casual. Richard

There are also some residents that have "Bed and Breakfast" if they are still doing this.

When I was a teen, I stayed on the couch of the house directly across the street from the Abbott's plant. Cost me $3 a night, included breakfast. Yikes, I must be getting old...
