I'm now offering my version of the classic Cube A Libre. I felt it was time to offer a version of this classic made in an old-time style. It's built with Walnut and accented with brass, which I believe gives this effect the look of a magic prop from long ago. The tube is hand-polished to give it that old time look and feel. The cubes are durable, yet light weight--only 4 ounces each. They measure 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" The entire set with tube, blocks, special gimmicks and custom cardboard carrying case weigh only 7 1/2 pounds.

I've attached a pic and would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,
Gimpy

Did you know Cuba Libre is a drink rum+coke. That's how it's called in Puerto Rico.

That's a nice looking prop, Gimpy, and a good drink, Rpascual.

Gimpy,

I'd expect something that beautiful from you. Love both my Light/Heavy chests! BTW, rum+Coke+lime=Cuba Libre.

The props look great - and the price is very competetive compared to other models.

My only small doubt is that the description says that the tube is gimmicked to eliminate the hole in the back. Personally I like the simplicity of a hole in the back, as there's nothing that can go wrong with it. It's 100% guaranteed to work every time. The feedback I've read on another well known model of this effect with a gimmick instead of a hole is that it's not as reliable. The hole in the back is not an issue because the routine is all about the numbers on the front of the blocks - you are never going to perform it with an audience behind you. The audience have to view it from the front in order to see the effect.

Caliban,

The routine I supply dose have one part where the back is turned to the front. A lot of research went into this and this is what I was asked to build. The mechanics of the gizzmo are quite solid. The other model that has a mchanical gizzmo operates with rubber bands that can break, I think that was the complaint about it. No rubber bands here, all steel.

Thanks,

Gimpy

Since I'll be shooting the Official Demo for this as I did with The Mighty Mini (look for this one to be in 1080 HD Format), I'd love to get my hands on this soon so I can begin to play around.

Christopher, that's a great way to shoot video. Im still using an older pro Panasonic left over from the studio days. My pal Nelson who actually works as a photographer in the real movie industry says that Canon HD "footage" can be shown on a giant theater screen and still look good.

Thanks for the reply. Keep us posted. Looking forward to seeing it.
