Hey Guys,
I love the CSB coin sets. I got my first set 30 years ago. It is an old Sterling(I think) set. Since then I have purchased a few other sets, including a Lassen Morgan Silver Dollar set, a Schoolcraft Walking Liberty set, and a Porper Poker Chip Suprise set. Next Friday I have a high profile gig at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. I have been practicing with the Lassen and Schoolcraft sets, trying to decide which to use. I then started thinking about what would happen if I somehow lost part of one of those sets while doing walk around for 175 guests. I started thinking about possibly using my older, cheaper Sterling set, so I pulled it out. Guess what? The old set felt as comfortable as an old pair of shoes! Having used them for 30 years, they felt like a security blanket does to a two year old. I know I am going to be nervous at this event, until I settle down, and have decided that using that old set that I've used thousands of times just feels better than using one of my new sets that I've owned for less than a year. Maybe I'm nuts, but it just feels right. Boy, am I glad I hadn't sold the old set. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Where the old prop, which you've used many times, just feels more comfortable and dependable than a new prop that does the same thing? I think I will save my newer sets for more intimate, less stressful settings. I would love to hear your thoughts, both positive and negative. Cheers, Sammy

As you may recall, I go into a coins across with the three straight coins at the end of my routine, and the click pass actually works better with the dollar size coins. The WL set is of course half dollar size. By the way, thanks for buying me that chinese coin 28 years ago (part of my old CSB set!) to replace the one I had lost in Las Vegas way back then. Sammy

Two Lassen (one in dollar sized, one in halves) and two Johnson, one "modern" and one "vintage". I had an offer for the "vintage" Johnson a while back, and, as I didn't want to part with it too cheaply, the deal fell through. I'm really glad; since, as much as I LOVE my Lassen sets, it does feel good to walk around in those old shoes once in awhile! -A |
