I use to have this effect but I sold it because of the fear of one day, having it break, and causing to ring to fly across the room, has this ever happened to anybody, and is there anything you can do to make it safer.
thanks Derek

If no one answers does that mean no one has ever had this happen...
Is this an urban legend?

Yes a few years ago, I tried to vanish a very heavy Harley Davidson ring and it broke. Luckily it was a heavy ring and I had on a jacket which it hit so it did not go far. But I can see how a very light ring might have traveled a very long distance in the same situation.
I have done Ring Flight maybe 2 or 3 times since. Joe |

that's all I wanted to know,thanks JM
If a cat steps on a hot stove it will never go near the stove hot or cold. Meaning, cats should never perform ring flight tricks. Derek

I have lost a ring for a good five minutes using ring flite. Why not just get a good retention vanish, a clip and some misdirection but the ring on there the old fashioned way?
Or buy Ringtrap! Ring ends up on mouse trap! |

contact Sean Taylor at Taylor's Magic in Australian (taylorsmagicshop@aol.com) and tell him Nick Sent You.
You could easily make the effect yourself but for $15 Australian ($8 US) it is well worth gettting the real deal with the routines provided. Its a great finale to a ring on string routine with tons of jokes. In my version, I give the spectator a ring box at the start and tell them their ring will appear in the box. At the end the ring vanishes with a baby wand (laugh 1) and when they open the box they find a bit of cheese (laugh 2) and say "well, if the cheese is the box then ring must be..." and pull out the set mouse trap (laugh 3). I sit the trap in the table and walk away (laugh 4) I come back and hand them the mosue trap saying they have to remove because I don't workers compensation but I do have public liability insurance (laugh 5). When they reach for the trap I shout SNAP and the jump (laugh 6) 6 laughs in 30 seconds! Can't recommend the routine enough |

Why not learn how to handle your props correctly? I have been using a ring flight of one sort or another for over 30 years, and I have NEVER lost a ring! What are you guys doing, letting the thing go from full extension with no buffer? Read Ultra Cervon for one way to handle this prop without fear of losing the ring. There are other ways to control the reel and the take up,, but that is as good a place as any to start.

I think if you buy a quality ring flight you will have no problems. I have been using iMAKulate ring flight for years and have had no problems. Avoid the cheaper ring flights on the market.
