Hi all,
I'm thinking of buying a "Locking $1.35" set. In your opinion, is the difference in quality of Johnson Coin products worth the price difference. You don't have to go into great detail with your answer; I trust the experience of the forum. Thanks in advance, Duke |

I usually use Johnson coins -- the quality has never let me down. I'm often dissatisfied with Sasco coins -- they have lousy quality control.

I've have a Johnson Ultimate Copper/Silver set I bought when I was about 13 (now 38) and it still works great! As a magic dealer for a brief time I had a chance to examine and use gaffed coins from some other makers and while it was functional, I'll always put my money into Johnson's stuff first.

I personally have all Todd Lassen gaffs now, but I had Johnson stuff before Todds.
Johnson quality is superb, the only reason I got rid of them was I wanted to use real silver coins instead of clad. Dan |

Johnson does (or did) custom work as well, and it is excellent. I had them make me a custom stack of real silver halves for the Ramsay Cylinder and Coins routine several years ago. Very nice work. I called them first, discussed, then mailed them the coins I wanted them to use. It wasn't too expensive either - and really shouldn't be for a standard item they are making anyway.

I've never seen a poorly-made Johnson product. For gaffed coins, they are superb.

Ditto on Johnson products. You get what you pay for.
Just a side note: If you're using the new Kennedy halves, I've noticed that the 1990 is slightly larger than any other year. The 1990 half fits the Johnson expanded half best IMHO. I plan to get their Walking Liberty coins in the future. Regards, Tony |

I've had versions of tricks that I bought when all I could afford was the lesser expensive makes. Later replaced them with Johnson and the difference was very noticable.
