It could also be that their cost is more on these cards for various reasons. No matter what-- it's always about money and unless you're on the inside, you'll be hard pressed to find the exact cause. sey |

It's like wheat and white bread.
Why does the wheat cost more when it is actually less refined when compared to the white bread? Okay... so it isn't anything like bread... but my guess is that geographic supply and demand have much to do with it. |

Look out for Carta Mundi Stratus range. They're excellent and as cheap as chips! Come in red and blue and are linen finish. On-line auctions generally have them in boxes of twelve.

Would it perhaps have something to do with the fact that they aren't produced in such large quantities, so production costs are higher?
Or maybe, as Bridge players are generally of a higher breeding stock than poker players, they don't care about paying more for their cards (only kidding.........honest)!!! If you are talking primarily about Bicycle Bridge, then they are exceptionally well made - the mass produced Poker stock doesn't hold a light to the print and cut quality of their Bridge packs. My favourite cards used to be Fox Lake made by Haines - I believe they were brought up by Bicycle in the late 70's. The 'similar' Aviator Bridge may carry the same back design but the quality is nowhere near as good as the old Fox Lakes. As Roger points out, Carta Mundi Stratus are an excellent card - linen quality that holds it's own despite regular use.
