Joe had recently been hospitalized due to complications from Diabetes. In late January, it took the lower part of one leg. Joe saw an opportunity in this... a new pirate act with a genuine peg leg. The ability to find a silver lining in something this traumatic is truly inspiring. Joe was also on dialysis, yet through it all, he remained in good spirits, and was doing well.
Sadly, I learned today that Joe passed away this weekend after suffering a massive heart attack during a dialysis session this past Friday. The message was forwarded via our clown alley from Scott Kalin, owner of the former Funhouse in Baltimore, where Joe was the magician in residence until it closed. In addition to magic, Joe also appeared as Santa, which is how I knew him best. He had recently completed a 9 day appearance for me over 3 weekends.

Joe Farina sounds like he was a good man. May he rest in peace and be remembered by all his friends and family.
