A while ago I purchased a Kirkendall reel which works very well, however I've had some problems with the thread flashing on occasion. I have it attached to a red silk, so I was thinking the best way to solve the problem would be to use red thread.
Does anyone know of any red thread that would be suitable for a reel? Would something along the lines of Silk or Nylon beading (or embroidery) thread work out? Thanks |

A common strategy with Asrahs (which I've done on a few reels) is to dye or paint different shades at odd lengths. 3 inches of black followed by 2 inches of brown then 3 inches of blue and 2 inches of dirty grey.. then repeat all along the line.
Hope that helps. After that I'd ;look into changing the lighting so it comes from behind somewhat.

CAMO IS RIGHT... however you need to avoid overhead or reat lighting.
I kills me when I see someone change to darker lighting in the middle of an act to do, say, the dancing cane. What works best, according to Finn Jon, is FRONT LIGHT ONLY... and it can be a britht spotlight.
