It is much easier to place the tube in a Vise and squeeze the tube them to pound away with a hammer. It will come out a perfect oval, not all dented and out irregular.

As for making a Palmo or other dye tube magnetic, why not use magnetic adhesive tape rather than both with shims and the like?

Bill,
I have had the same problem. Refrigerator doors with a note seem to be the limit. It is simply too weak for my uses. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Do either the Palmo gimmick and the Porper gimmick have the cloth tape?

No. But the Palmo could have one added into it without too mush trouble.

There is a theory behind Palmo verses tape type tubes. The Palmo allows you to actually show the silk coming from both sides of the fist, whereas the tape does not. A feature advantage, I like very much.
Also the steal is very different as well as the problem of trying to control 2 silks in one hand if it is larger then 12" silks. The advantages of the palmo over keeps me coming back to it, time after time. |

There are a number of Palmos and Hank Balls out there.... I have a couple of Laflin Palmos and think they are pretty awesome. I also bought the Lafling Palmo Video and it really is an excellent resource.

In the Palmo, the tape is generally regarded as unnecessary due to the turned in lips.
this gives sufficient control over the possibility of the silk emerging prematurely. Regards- JNeal
