(Then the 80's hit, along with the hair bands and the ubiquitous 1-minimium Hard-Rock-Ballad-per-album, and it wasn't until the 90's when grunge appeared and brought metal's real image back...)

For me it is the sound of Philly… The Stylistics, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, The Delfonics, etc. I lived across the river in Cherry Hill, NJ and then my family moved to Utah... Need I say more?

Let me guess, Utah is not a fun place. Do you ever get the cravings for a Pat"s cheese steak, or a real hoagie, or a professional baseball, hockey, football, or basketball game? I would guess that the Osmonds are not as good as Teddy Prentergrast was. Do you remember drinking a beer at the ball park? Do you remember going to the beach for the day? The last time I was in Utah all I could think about was WHEN THE **** AM I GOING HOME

I saw the MC5 and they were the worst rock and roll band that there ever was. My ears were ringing for several days after I walked out of their concert, and all the political BS between songs. It has been over 40 years since I saw them, and I remember that nightmare like it was yesterday. Lobo Whoops you are right about the Utah jazz, so Salt Lake City is a one sport town, can you drink a beer at their games? I still wouldn't go there on a bet. Thank you Mr. Politically correct

All of the above were groups that I saw in concert (I was a concert hound and attended both Atlanta Pop Festivals) during the '70s, a decade of Sex, Drugs & R&R... Dom :)

AL… When I moved to Utah at the end of the 70’s, there was a sign at the state line that said… Welcome to Utah, set your watch back 20 years.
Since then many things have changed… you can get a real drink there and there are some OK cheese steak places. I am now living in Denver CO, what a change, but still not much in the way off good Soul Music, but we have become Nugget fans. Bruce Oh the Osmonds had a little soul with “One Bad Apple” … they did an OK imitation of the Jackson 5. |
