I guess this would go under cultural trend or trivia fact but I believe it's safe to say from my experience when a Woman is into Yoga you could link to spiritual/new age (ex. meditation and incense) and health conscious. When a Man is into Yoga you could link to girlfriend or wife is making them do it or it's a man who has a perverse craving for middle-aged woman in spandex. = ]
P.S. I live in California so that might also be a factor. Johnny |

That's a rather sexist observation.

I do Tai Chi of my own accord with nobody else around. I've written a book on palmistry and there ain't no incense, ringing bells or terrible synth mood music around these parts.
Most guys I know hear the word Yoga and immediately imagine being in pain and exhausted 'cos they can't do any of that fancy stuff without feeling beaten up. So if you think that Yoga is a meditative relaxant you seriously need to think again. It's agony! But very good for you. Try going to a yoga class yourself before tossing out generalisations. The women are hardcore, yet supple. Give you ten minutes max. |

Well, I live in california I'm a guy, I'm into occultism and metaphysics (though I don't care for the label of 'new age') and I've gone through several bouts of being very interested in yoga.
None of this applies to my wife. She is opened minded and will listen politely to some of my interests (just like she'll let me show her a new card trick! ), but she isn't interested in any of it herself. If you put that into a reading for me it would be a huge miss.

Something else to add to your cold reading arsenal...
(You should pay for this, but due to my generosity I let it go for free...) "When you drive your car you are usually seated and the speed you are going to is the one you decide, unless you own some poltergeisted Toyota model. You find your ethical duty to pay all your taxes or at least you like to say so... At night, for some reason you don't understand, you see the sky around and above you is dark..."
Then you'll rise right before my eyes, on wings that fill the sky, like a phoenix rising!

"Yoga" is offered at gyms as sort of work out. So I think the health awareness is there, obviously. But not necessarily the person has to be into new age stuff. Many people simply do "Yoga" (which is I think a modern derivative of Hatha-Yoga) as work out, as postures, without knowing any background, or even without having any interest in the background (like my girlfriend). Now, if the person would have a connection to Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga or Karma Yoga, you would be correct with the assumption that they had spiritual (or at least philosophical, esp. in the case of Karma Yoga) ambitions.
BTW, I'm all for Karma-Yoga, if I had to choose. Good thinking there. |
