I came across an interesting thought the other day. My friend (who's not a magician or mentalist in any way shape or form) was performing a card trick at the dinner table to this girl. Just messing around. He had her pick a card, and put it back, and he would tell her to just think of the card, and he would tell her what card she thought of. Of course, I would get a peek at it, and cue him the card by mouthing it to him. She wasn't very bright. Anyway.. when he went for the reveal, 6 of clubs, she said "no". He said, "are you sure?" and she said "yes." So he went through the deck and pulled the 6 of clubs out, and showed her.. "It wasn't this one?" Then she said.."Oh yeah! it was, I was thinking 6 of clovers, I didn't know what it was called." So this got me thinking, as mind reader, we should be able to pick up on their thoughts. If someone said clovers and not clubs, how much more impressive would it be to everyone else watching, if we said, "you're thinking of the 6 of clovers?" So here is an idea. When doing a card effect for a person who is suspected to be unfamiliar with cards, it would be good to find out if they are familiar with the card suits. Then revealing a thought of card would be more impressive when they think clovers and not clubs. Or Shovels instead of spades.

I still occasionally come across someone who refers to clubs as "puppy feet."
But rather than waiting for the rare person who isn't familiar with suit names, I often get a laugh by using the odd name myself. Bob |

Hahaha. puppy feet. that's awesome. I suppose I encounter ditzy women quite frequently performing in a bar setting. The puppy feet thing would totally score me some points with the ladies though. I'm gonna use that one. Thanks Bob!
