Hello!
What's the etiquette on this forum regarding asking how a trick is done, when the magician involved deliberately gives the trick away, but I'm still too thick to understand it? I appreciate that I would not come here looking for answers, but if the trick deliberately tells you the secret for the comedy effect, is that OK? It's because of this video that has really annoyed me since I was very young. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWX4dlKurkQ John Lenehan shows us at the end of the video that it's a model of a plane, but I don't understand how there is a shadow cast from the plane on the runway, and also what the plane is standing on, what it's attached to - I just don't understand! Could anyone please shed some light on this? Thank you! |

Unfortunately the proper etiquette on this is...... don't ask, cuz we won't tell.
The video that you posted has the real answer. John is in fact a real wizard with terrifying powers. btw, I actually really like the trick. Kind of a funny TV sucker trick. |

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by funny TV sucker trick?
I won't ask for more info on how the trick is done if that is not allowed. I just figured that, in all the other STWR episodes, he reveals the trick very clearly and on this one, I still don't fully understand it - there shouldn't be a secret because he's telling us the secret. I'm just too thick to work out how there is a shadow. And I'm a professional magician too! |

A sucker trick is a trick where they lead you down the path of explanation, and then they fool you again - the explanation is just as perplexing as the trick.
This presentation was a "sucker" effect. I see that you are brand new here. In magic, it is very un-politically correct to ask how something is done. No one will (or should) explain to you how this effect works. Just enjoy it for what it is |

Thanks for the reply. I would definitely not have ask for magic secrets here, if the magician in the clip hadn't pupported to give the secret away themselves. Thanks or the understanding. Will continue to read and lurk as I have for a long time here.
Thanks! |
