I was at the Rio and I ran into the crowd of people coming out of Penn and Teller's show. They were so disappointed with it. One guy said that there is a time and place for everything and Penn should drop the knock on religious stuff. This guy was atheist so he wasn't bothered by it he just thought it was too excessive and took away from the show.
Let's see if I can recall how he put it... Oh yeah... He said to my wife that, "The show was more boring than having sex with that old guy probably is" (he was referring to me). Must have been a really bad show! |

I saw them in November, and they did't seem to have any references to religion at all in the show. Not one. Fake psychics yes.
I didn't see a single person complain, and as a matter of fact all seemed quite entertained. As for boring, not in the least. You say you ran into the crowd coming out? Did you see the show? We stay at the Rio 3 or 4 times a year and people a huge percentage of those who see the show are very happy.

My wife and I saw their show last summer and seem to remember some references to the fact the Penn was an athiest. We are religious but I do not recall being offended in anyway. In fact, in this 'Penn Says' segment he tells a story that illustrates his tolerance and respect toward Christians (and people that think differently than him). Well, at least some of them.

You can't please all of the people all of the time, so it doesn't surprise me mtpascoe heard so people were disappointed. Penn & Teller aren't for everyone. If the show was perfect for every person, by definition the show would be only average. Also Penn & Teller are always changing their show so althjough it's possib;le they had some religious stuff at one point dioesn'y mean thyey always do. I see them about once a year and there are always new pieces every time. I wouldn't be going back again and agion if I didn't think they were great. Obviously, your mileage may vary.
