Hi
I have been booked to do a couple of weddings at Pinewood film studios at the end of this year so would like to add some more film related magic tricks to my walk around act. I already have Killer ELite Pro and Directors cut and can adapt a few others so they have a film related tie in. Does anyone else know of any other magic tricks with a film theme that can be used for table hopping???

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Sponge Balls
or, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: Sponge Balls (as the nose, etc.) This is tougher than I thought! Any good basic gambling routine you tie in with a lot of movies. Good luck,

I have a little straw voodo doll from Bruce Kalver. I tell everyone it's the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz - the film was shot in miniature and then blown up (little known movie fact). I have one of the spectators sing a song from the movie (usually the person that has drunk the most), and as they sing, the scarecrow stands up in my hand.

Andy Nyman has a prediction effect that combines predicting a number (on a "membership card") with a film prediction. If you can somehow work video/DVD stores into your presentational patter, you could use that.

Darwin Ortiz seems to draw a lot of inpiration from films when designing his routines. Try checking out: The Quick & The Dead/ Fastest Gun Alive, both from 'Scams & Fantasies'.
Both have a nice film-related presentational hook (that of a western-style gunfight) and are suitable for a walkarond act. At the more extreme end of things is 'Cannibal Holocaust' (in the same volume). This has a zombie-related presentation, but does (ideally) require a table. |

My local magic shop has a movie themed mentalism trick. If you want more information, call the Be Amazing Magic Shop at 614-888-9099. His hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday 11A-7P and Saturday 11A-5P. He is closed Sunday & Monday.

Disgustingly simple yet always gets a good reaction if you do it right: Movie Time cards. It is a series of 10 cards that the spectator lays out any way they want and each card has 10 movies listed on it. They pick any of the 100 movies listed and you are able to reveal their selection. It is most effective if you know a little about each movie listed and use that information in your reveal. For example "The Godfather" use a line like "so if I don't get your movie, am I going to wake up with a horse head next to me?" Etc etc. Costs like 5 or 10 bucks, but lay people eat it up.

Dmueller, that is the basic trick my local magic store is selling, just don't know if the movie selections are the same though. It really is a great trick and I have been able to do it more than one time for the same people and they have never caught onto the technique.

Clyde,
Its a great little packet trick. Plays amazingly well, and very deceptive. When it was demo'd for me I loved it. Then I found out the secret and I was a little worried about its simplicity. I have performed it more times than I can count and always get a good reaction. A magician friend of mine has the same thing with different movies listed but the work is the same. My set has a good mix of "newer" (late 90's early 2000's) and classics. |

I hilariously forgot my own trick, Movie Magician, but you can only perform it for one person at a time..... sigh....

21st Century Phantom is an updated version of Ted Annemann's Phantom Artist. The specatator selects a movie star at random. The magician take a business card and begins snipping wildly at it with scissors. The end result is a perfectly cut out silhouette of the celebrity that selected. I don't do the trick but the demo is cool. Combination of mentalism and art. The spectator gets a souvenir to take home.

I'd agree with macgver on the andy nyman trick-it's 2 trisck combined-both with different workings & outcomes. It's nice & straightforward & very effective. You can buy it in the lecture notes or it's on the "get nyman" dvd.
