I finally quit making excusing, got out there, and preformed....
It was so much harder than I could ever imagine. My perception of busking has totally changed. I do the same tricks at a paid gig, and they kill everyone, but on the street, its just tougher! I had a friend count, and my first show had 26 people. I was super nervous, but I got through everything ok. I had tons of hat lines for after the show, but the people tipped (or didn't) and left so quick. It wasnt like gazzo's show where they stick around to hear funny hat lines. I did two more shows in the afternoon and then the streets slowed way down till about 7 pm. After a long wait, I did one last show, which I felt pretty good about. the hat was decent, I think most people really enjoyed it. I seemed to connect with them better. I really wanted to do more shows, but I found the biggest challenge was getting the first few people to stop. I didn't have many walk aways, but getting a core group was the toughest challenge of the day. Just wanted to share my experience with ya'll. It was hard to get out there and do the first show, but hopefully it will only get better from here. I'm super tired from all the excitement, but just wanted to share some of the interesting parts of the day. What kind of issues are you guys having that you didn't anticipate? walk aways? hecklers? what? I was very surprised at how hard it was to get the first people to stop, even making noise, and such. Thanks for all the info you guys give about busking here in on the Café, and thanks for the inspiration! Brandon |

Yeah, I think it was definitely slower than the summer, but the weather was so good today, there were quite a few people out. Not like summer, but I was itching to preform.
I'll look for you out there. How's N.O.? Already hot? |

Congrats.
My advice is to get out there a.s.a.p. for round 2. After that it gets easier. Going out the second time after a difficult first time is the hardest thing of all. Get #2 under your belt right away. Congrats!!!
