Speaking of bronze, did Tom Frank, Jake or Don ever make any cups in bronze? Not "Antique-coated Bronze" finish, but actual unadorned bronze metal?
I seem to recall that Jake made some cups in bronze. I think they were called "Church Bronze" or some such name. Were these real bronze cups as we understand the term "bronze" to mean? Is there more than one type of bronze...suitable for cup spinning? (Where's Bill Palmer when you really need him?) (grin)

Without going into details, it basically concerns melting the metal, removing the impurities, making it into ingots, then rolling it into sheets or making whatever shapes need to be made to sell it from.

Turk,
Jake did make cups from church bronze. I have a set of Monti Cups from him in that material, gorgeous things that look like gold when they're polished.

Many of the "copper" cups that are on the marekt are actually made of some form of red bronze or another. Some bronzes have a greenish hue. Others, such as "church bronze" are yellow. There are certain bell bronze alloys that are almost white. Googling "bronze" will give you a lot of information on this subject. There are some specific ones, such as "Tobin" which was used for bearings, and there was also "trolley bronze" or "trolley brass," which was used for various parts of streetcars. Guild metal was an alloy that was used for the jackets of artillery shells.
