HI Guys and thanks for taking the time to check out my question. I have just received a nice gaff coin to use during a coin bite / spit. It's pretty simple to operate and I have that part down well. My question is:\\
How do I make the transition from the mark's coin to my coin in order to perform? How do I make the transition from my gaff coin back to the mark's coin once the trick is over and I want to hand it out to inspect. I have looked up and seen the finger palm, but this doesn't help me exchange one coin for another...any help would be appreciated!!!! |

Shuttle pass? Take a look at Bobo.

Palm to Palm Change? Like yachanin said, start with Bobo.

I see this was your first post - welcome to the Café!
Just in case you are not sure what people mean when they say 'Bobo', it refers to the bible of coin manipulation called '(The New) Modern Coin Magic' by J. B. Bobo. It will provide you with ways of accomplishing what you need to do. If you don't have it, most here would suggest that it be one of your next purchases.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Hi guys,
Thanks for responding! I definitely need to purchase J.B Bobo's book (does it also come on DVD?) and will look into it after I'm done posting here. I've read about the shuffle pass, and see how I can get rid of the spectators coin that way but my question is how am I holding my gaff coin so that once I vanish the spec coin I can begin using the gaff? |

For 'instant gratification' you can buy and download an electronic (PDF) version of Bobo's book here:

Get yourself a copy of the hardcover of Bobo's Modern Coin Magic to start.
Then start thinking about how you will be dressed, how far away the audience, what you want to do next in your performance ... and those questions. You may want to explore Dr. E. M. Roberts' clever sleight which permits switching things with one hand where you really have nothing else in your hand before, during your trick, or after you give them their coin back. It's in the book. And welcome to the Café. Enjoy! PS, if you can enjoy pretending to be butterfingered, there are other options early in the book which might also suit your style.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Since you are brand new, I'll give you a handling that will give a little performing experience and some confidence. Start with a normal half dollar hidden in right Finger Palm. Have the gaffed half at your fingertips. Do the "bite and blow back" effect. Start to put the coin away in your pocket, actually drop it in your pocket, then come back out with the normal coin on your palm as if you just thought they might want to see the coin after all. Nothing fancy, but you can at least have some fun with your new toy.
