I just have to share what happened today. I called Cox Communications to notify them we would be moving and I would need the telephone, cable and internet disconnected at the end of the month. I asked the phone to be disconnected as of the 19th and cable/internet as of the end of the month.
The lady listened intently and read back everything to me. She then asked If I had a forwarding address for the final bill. I gave her the new address only to be greeted by silence. "Hello??" "Helloooooooooo??" To make a long story short, here's what happened. She actually disconnected my phone while I was talking to her. No dial tone just a dead line... I picked up my cell and dialed the number again,, navigated the endless menus and got a different representative..He confirmed that the work order was for later in the month and had to restrain his laughter (despite mine) as he realized what his co-worked did. I went ahead and left the phone disconnected and asked for a prorated bill. I gave him the new address (he for some reason only had a partial address) and coordinated the final bill.

We've been trying to switch our cable service to AT&T U-verse, which means that they'll bill us for the cable on our phone bill, and have been having no end of problems because they cannot coordinate with our former (telephone) provider.
Our former telephone provider is AT&T. Today they disconnected my phone. How's that for coincidence? (Fortunately, my wife phoned them from work (I'm home sick with pneumonia and didn't feel like talking to (and coughing at) anyone) and got it restored in about half-an-hour. Unbelievable! (Not unbelievable that these morons can do this sort of thing; unbelievable that they can remain gainfully employed to continue to do so.) |

I'm quite amused by the fact that Deutsche Telekom still uses an incorrect address for our service. They bill us correctly (big surprise), but still list the land-line service as being provided to our last address. Their website also refuses to let me change the address Online, and I'm not going to take a trip into town to go argue with them.
But the question is: how is it technically possible to provide my service to another address while allowing me to use the phone and Internet here where I live? Or maybe the last people who lived here are paying for my service.... I'm confused. |
