After a program, an audience member reminded me of a vent parody done by Albert Brooks. Instead of drinking water while singing, Mr. Brooks poured the water into the figures mouth.

This would be a great bit during outside programs. Of course this would be for (at least for me ..a specially built or 3rd or 4th string puppet.

Thought....use a mouthy mouth with a funnel inserted upside down..going into some sort of bottle to hold the water.

Anyone have an update or recent use of this?

Much safer to use a "magic" drinking glass.

Brooks' vent figure also tended to fall apart onstage, if memory serves. He tells a great story about crossing the border (Canadian?) and an official opens one of his suitcases to find a soggy suitcase and a sopping-wet vent figure. Explain that! :-D

Yes the "glass" for inside gigs..I always am considerate ...

When I have done the bit just used a big walled shot type glass...

For the bit I was reminded of, I think I will make a rubber based puppet..with a drainage plug...the visual of pouring in the water...could be priceless...though won't know till I try it out...(probally during a walk around park gig)

Be safe, well and creative.

Harris...

though it may rest in my nearly normal brain till next summer....
