Really good props/routines are worth paying for.

However, as you post and come to "know" the folks here, they'll be a little more open about things - but not too much. Regarding "Come Fly With Me", I assume you have seen the demo. What folks are saying here is that you will get everything you need to perform the trick. Yes, it is very expensive. For those who own this trick (or ones similar to it), they know why it is so expensive. The trick has received great reviews by experienced magicians. I will say this - one of the reasons it is so expensive is that the matierial you are working with is valuable (silver). Another reason is that the gaffs are made with a precision that you don't just find every day. Enjoy the Café! You will find it a great resource of information. The search engine can be of great help, too.

CFWM was the first expensive coin trick I bought. At the time (4 years ago) it was $375.00 for the Morgan dollar version.
When I displayed my shock at the price to Mark Mason he said "It's not for everyone". He was right. This entire routine takes about 1-2 minutes. But when performed under the right conditions, it rocks. Having bought numerous expensive gaffs since I can see that this set is worth what I paid. The effect is very visual. The handling is very clean. The coins are very well made. Two tips, from my perspective... 1. Invest in the Morgan set instead of the half dollar version. The halves aren't as visual and are harder to handle. 2. Insist on a set made with "soft" Morgans. The handlings in this effect make noise an issue with the newer Morgans. I originally bought it in 1921 new Morgans. Later, Mark let me trade them in for a set of medium soft Morgans. The handling difference is night and day. Sammy

Hi Sammy.
The website says "ALL OUR STOCK OF COME FLY WITH ME'S ARE MADE FROM GENUINE MORGAN DOLLARS." doesn’t say "soft" but it appears that they only sell the Morgans version now. I didn't see a half-dollar version there. Thank you. Jim |

I contacted Mark Mason awhile back, and he said the dollar version of CFWM are made in both soft and uncirculated versions. If you prefer one over the other, just call him and he will take care of you.
You will find some prefer soft, others pristine coins. I fall into the latter category.

Hi Reelin123
I purchaced the Morgan version and I gotta say, it's worth every penny. There is a half dollar version available from other websites but I wouldn't recomend it. This particular trick should definately be done with big coins. When I purchaced my set I asked for medium worn coins and that I what I got. A beautiful set. I agree with Sammy. Don't get the uncirculated Morgans. They will talk too much. Kind regards sean PS. Do a search and I think you'll find some teLly useful information on this forum. |

Thanks for all the good advice. But I don't really understand the difference between soft and uncirculated morgan dollars...

Soft coins just means coins that are worn through use. UNC coins are like brand new shiny coins with all the detai on the faces. When two of those slide against each other they make a rubbing/grateing noise. Worn coins don't make as much noise because the designs on the coins are worn down. Hope that helps.
Kind regards Sean |
